FAQ

Where is your office located?

My office is conveniently located just off Shawnee Mission Parkway and Johnson Drive in the Walz Tetrick Advertising building.

5201 Johnson Drive, Suite 305
Mission, KS 66205

Do you offer telehealth?
You bet! You’re busy! Sometimes, the best you can do is sit in your car during lunch and chat with me. That’s OK if you’re in Kansas, where I’m licensed. I even have some students who attend appointments with me from a private space at school during study hall so they don’t have to leave. Less time out of class = win!
What are your office hours?

My hours vary by season of the year and day of the week. I offer scheduling times four days a week, and I try to have a day or two a week with early morning or late afternoon hours to help accommodate your busy schedule, too! My current availability is always visible in my client portal, where you can request appointments.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you cannot attend a session, please cancel at least 24 hours beforehand to avoid the full session fee charge for late cancellations and no-shows.

How long are the sessions?

When you book with me, you can choose a 45- or 60-minute session, depending on your availability and needs.

What age ranges do you work with?

I work with individuals ages ten and up! For clients aged 12 and under, the first session is with the parent or guardian only. This session allows parents to discuss their child’s concerns and therapeutic goals openly.

What can I expect in the first session?

Our first session is a -hour Initial Assessment. During this session, we dig deep into your life story. I want to know it all from the beginning! Health history, past experiences with therapy (if any), social/emotional history, family dynamics, upbringing, etc. We lay it all out there!

Having this level of information about you helps me to understand your perceptions and viewpoints. We usually end by agreeing on a couple of therapeutic goals to work toward.

How many sessions will I need?
It depends! How much of your quality of life is affected by your presenting issues? How urgent are your needs? How prominent are your symptoms? These are all things that will determine the treatment plan and how we move forward. Don’t worry; you will have tons of input in this conversation.
How do you work with adolescents AND their parents?

Great question! Parents, I want you to know practical coping strategies or skills we may be working on to ensure that you are better able to support your teen through this process. I need to know your goals or concerns for your child so we can use our time effectively. However, I ask that you give us privacy so that the therapeutic process can unfold safely and trustfully.

As we explore their challenges and needs, most adolescents will open up more to parents.

Are you a Christian counselor?
I am Catholic. I think it’s important to know that I am a practicing Christian, and we can bring spirituality into our work together whether you are Christian or not! I won’t impose my beliefs on you. Again, you’re in the driver’s seat, and I’m riding shotgun here. We will take or leave it when bringing faith and religion into our sessions. You decide.
Can therapy be fun?

Yep! I love bringing humor into our conversations. Laughing AND crying happen frequently with me. I seek to earn your trust.

If you allow yourself to be vulnerable, we will do some good work to make a massive difference in your life.

Beach or Mountains?
Beach! I always prefer warm weather and sunshine, but I won’t complain about a trip to the mountains during the summer months.
Volleyball? or Volleyball?
I played at a small NAIA school in college, and volleyball will always be my first love of sports. I’m a loyal Kansan, so I follow KU, KSU, Royals, and Chiefs – and now the Kansas City Current is on my list!
